The moment is finally here!!! My MA knitwear collection is complete, and I’m so proud to share what I’ve poured my heart (and many, many stitches) into!

Inspired by the 1940s, when resources were limited and clothing was created to last through generations, this timeless capsule wardrobe has been designed to combine smart style with naturally comfortable silhouettes for everyday life. This collection is called Efil Wolsa.

I have used this time to explore concepts, test ideas and create a capsule collection of durable clothing made from locally sourced, 100% natural materials. I aim to sustainably create pieces that can be interchanged with one another in the collection, built to withstand years of wear.

This knitwear collection draws upon the macabre and gruesome themes featured in well-known childhood fairy tales. By including design elements that reference the story's more unsettling aspects, we are reminded that fairy tales are not always the innocent stories we were led to believe as children. The delicate fibres, damaged and visibly mended, celebrate and twist the rags-to-riches narrative of Cinderella. Through careful restoration, these garments have become one-of-a-kind pieces.

The theme was Reuse//Repurpose//Recycle. I created this outfit from a single duvet sheet, old scraps of denim and some trimmings found around the house.

I created the quilted fabric and hand sewed a pearl into each intersection (pearl beads from a necklace found at the thrift store). I shredded half the duvet and crocheted a sweater vest. The skirt is made form strips of denim woven together.
